- 1. In Lights palette click green (+) button to add a new light then double click on light name to invoke Light Parameters dialog.
- 2. Choose Type: Environment.
- 3. Under Intensity tab set Brightness to 100% to match intensity range of image however values > 100 are commonly used to exaggerate the light’s intensity.
- 4. Under Shadow tab turn Shadows OFF. Environment shadows can be computationally intensive and require a high # Of Samples, (explained in step 6), for good shadow quality. A common technique is to use Ambient Occlusion to generate the shadow effect.
- 5. Under Parameters tab choose Map Type: Spherical or Cubic then click on Options button to load an image.
- 6. Set # Of Samples to determines how many random light locations are sampled on the image. Increase for better light quality with increased rendering time.
- 7. Set Color Factor which determines the color of the light shooting into the scene from the image. Decrease to change the light color closer to white instead of the sampled pixel color.
