Create a solid 3D snowflake with Subdivision modeling
Updated
Create a solid cage for one branch.
Use Rotate tool with Multi Copy, Divide Distance, # of Copies = 5.
Use Boolean Union tool to union the six branches together.
Select Subdivision tool and click on object.
Apply a “gold" material from default material libraries.
Use Environment reflections to enhance reflectivity as shown in the Tip Here. In this scene I used an image of a Christmas tree to reflect on the gold material.
Note, the cage was created using just the drawing tools, reshape tools and topological editing. We also used the Subdivision Swap tool to switch back and forth between the cage and the subdivided object to check the progress of our cage editing.
