- Create and save a 3D model in formZ, (for example, filename.FMZ).
- Launch the stand-alone 2D formZ Layout application by either double clicking on the formZ Layout application or choosing New Layout Project from the File pull down menu in the 3D formZ application.
- In the New Layout dialog choose your Paper Size then click OK button and a new 2D layout document is displayed. (See Tip Here on how to use the automatic Title Block option.)
- Select Frame tool and click two points to define a frame.
- In the Frame Parameters dialog click the Open icon and choose the 3D model saved earlier, (filename.FMZ), then click Open button. While still in the Frame Parameters dialog also choose the desired View and Scale for this frame. When satisfied with your settings click OK button.
- Observe a 2D Hidden Line drawing displayed inside the frame.
- If you need to change any frame parameters then Right click on the yellow frame border and choose Parameters to invoke the Frame Parameters dialog again.
- Save the 2D Layout document, (for example, filename.FML). Observe layout files are saved as .FML files.
- Did you know your 2D layout will automatically update if your 3D model changes? Switch to the 3D formZ application, make changes to your model, then re-save your file.
- Switch back to formZ Layout and observe a dialog informing you the 3D model has changed. Click OK button and observe your Layout Frame automatically updates with your changes.
