Use navigation tools or mouse to view your scene at the desired distance.
Save this view by clicking green (+) button in Views palette and type a name such as “MyView”.
Make it visible by clicking on the Eye icon in the 3rd column of the Views palette.
Use navigation tools to zoom out to see a bird’s eye view of your scene and the symbol for your saved view.
Double click on the view name to invoke the View Parameters dialog and set the Center Of Interest (COI) X, Y, and Z to (0,0,0), then click OK button to close dialog.
Change to Top View using navigation tools or Cmd + 6 (Mac) or Ctrl + 6 (Win).
Create a 2D Circle with the Center at 0,0,0 and the Radius extending to the location of the Eye of your view.
Change to Right View using navigation tools or Cmd + 8 (Mac) or Ctrl + 8 (Win).
Move 2D circle to same elevation as Eye of view.
Select Animate Along Path tool. This can be found by switching to Animation Workspace or tapping the Space bar and typing “anim...etc” until you see the desired tool in the Favorites panel.
Click on the Eye of the view then the 2D Circle.
Click the Play button in the TimeLine palette and watch the Eye of the camera follow along the circle.
To see your animation from the view’s perspective you need to make the view active in the Views palette by clicking in the first column next to your view name, (a red dot should appear).
Tip: You can use any 3D position for the center of your animation by moving the view COI anywhere in the scene. In addition you can turn ON the Show Object Centroid in Display Options and snap the COI to the center of an object. Just make sure your 2D circle path has the same center location.
Tip: After the view is animated you can edit the circle anytime you desire and the view will automatically update. For example, you can move, rotate, edit, change the radius and reverse the direction of the circle.
