iPhone and iPad
The mobile viewer presents the 3D model with icons at the top and bottom of the display. The 3D model display can be controlled interactively by touching in the main area of the app. The three icons in the middle of the lower tool bar control the interaction when touching the model: Orbit, Walk and Measure.
Tools
Tap on the File icon to see the model files on your device. Open the desired model by tapping its image. The viewer includes a number of sample models. There are several ways to transfer form•Z project files to your device.
If AirDrop is enabled on your Mac and on your IOS device, you can transfer a .fmz file by dragging it onto the icon for the iOS device in the AirDrop window on your Mac. The form•Z mobile viewer launches if its not running and the model will be opened.
You can also copy a file to your device using macOS Finder. With the device attached, open a new Finder window, then navigate to the Locations section found the left hand column. Select your device, then click on its Files tab. Drag your .fmz file onto the formZ Mobile Viewer entry in the list. To remove a file, Control-click on it, then select Delete from the contextual menu.
Tap the Add button to open a model from a cloud file sharing service like iCloud or Google Drive. Select the desired service from the list and then select the desired form•Z project file from the navigation screen. iCloud file sharing can be enabled in you devices Settings. Google drive and other cloud service require that there specific Apps be installed fro the service to be available.
Tap the Share button to capture an image of your model as it appears onscreen. The image can be saved to Photos, messaged, emailed or printed. The list of services available for sharing the image to depends on the Apps that are installed on your device. For example, if the Facebook, Snapchat or Twitter Apps are installed on your device, you can share the image via these Social media Apps.
The Orbit tool is selected by default. A single finger swipe will spin the view in the direction of the swipe motion. A Pinch action zooms the view in or out. A two-finger swipe pan’s the view in the swipe direction and a double tap will fit the current view to the screen.
With Walk active, you can navigate through the model in the direction that you move your finger from the touch point. Dragging up or down moves you forward or backwards and right or left turns you in that direction. Touching the screen in another location simultaneously (often with another finger) changes the forward and backwards motion into looking up and down. A double tap will align the view to the ground plane.
With Measure active you can measure a distance in the model. Tap where you want to measure from and drag your finger where you want to measure to. The distance is shown on the measurement line as you drag. As its difficult to see what you are measuring through your finger, an inspector window is shown above your finger with an expanded view of the area under your finger.
Tap the Render button the upper left to open Rendering Options panel. From here you can choose Wireframe, Shaded Work or Shaded full rendering modes by tapping the respective icon. Select the desired features for each render mode in the lower section of the panel. Tap the Render button again to hide the panel.
Tap the Views icon to see a list of available views. The top of the list shows standard views (Top, Left, Home etc..) and the bottom of the list shows views that are saved in the file. Tap the desired view from the list to make it active. The list can be scrolled as needed by swiping up and down. Tap the Views icon or anywhere in the model image to close the list. Tap the Add View icon to save the current view to the View list.
Tap the Clipping Planes (live sections) icon to see a list of clipping planes available in the in the project. Slide the switch on or off to enable or disable a clipping plane. Tap the Add Clipping Plane icon to add a new clipping plane. The plane can be created relative to one of the standard views (Top, Left etc.) or Perpendicular to the current view. When at least one plane is active, you can tap the Edit Clipping Plane icon to enable dynamic editing of the clipping plane. A slider appears that allows easy control of the plane through the depth of the model. Also the standard clipping plane controls are shown on screen for additional control of the plane. Tap the Edit Clipping Plane icon to close the editor.
Tap the Layers icon to see the layers in the project. Slide the switch on or off to enable or disable a specific layer. Tap the Layers icon or anywhere in the model to close the list.
Tap the Lights icon to see the lights in the project. Slide the switch on or off to enable or disable a specific layer. Note that the effect of the lights is only available when Shaded Full rendering mode has been selected from the Render options. Tap the Lights icon or anywhere in the model to close the list.
Tap the Scenes icon to see a list of available scenes (a collection of view, layer, lighting and clipping plane settings). Tap the desired scene from the list to make it active. Tap the Scenes icon or anywhere in the model image to close the list.
